The little snow globes which have been produced and sold in their
millions over
the last 50 years are well-known and loved everywhere.
However, hardly anybody knows how the story of the dream globes began.
Bernhard Koziol’s VW beetle in front of the old factory in Michelstadt
It was in 1950 when Koziol, the founder of the company,
was driving through the snow covered Odenwald on a cold winter’s night
and got stuck in a high snow bank.
Everything was quiet.
He looked around and saw through the back oval window of this beetle.
Bernhard Koziol was presented with a fascinating sight.
Snow flakes danced in the air,
three deer came out of the forest covered with snow.
The snow was falling softly on top of them.
This sight inspired Bernhard Koziol
to create the first dream globe in the world.
The first globes were of deer in a winter scene.
When the snow flakes slowly fall to the bottom in the dream globes you can think back to Bernhard Koziol’s trip.
More than 50 years have gone by since his exciting trip in the beetle.
Even today, the descendants of the inventor Bernhard Koziol, produce those gorgeous dream globes and sell them world wide.
Javier Mariscal from Barcelona designed dream globes for Koziol.
Today, his son Stephan Koziol
works with well-known designers on new motifs.
Every single part is hand painted and then painstakingly finished to create a distinctive Koziol dream globe.
Even Bernhard Koziol used pure Odenwald spring water to fill the dream globes - the process still remains a secret.
All dream globes continue to tell wonderful stories about emotions and fantasies and invite you to go on a journey to your own dreams.
